PETE HUTTLINGER INTERVIEW
(Originally aired on April 30, 2009)
In addition to being an ace Nashville session player, Pete Huttlinger is one of the most musical and technically advanced fingerstyle guitarists of our time. In his hands, a flattop becomes a mini-orchestra as he juggles a tune’s melody, harmony, bass lines and even percussion.
Huttlinger's new album, Finger Picking Wonder, pays tribute to the great Stevie Wonder with ten of Wonder's songs arranged as acoustic guitar instrumentals. The album raises the bar for fingerstyle steel-string and allows us to hear Wonder's compositions in a fresh, spellbinding context. In our exclusive interview, Huttlinger describes arranging and recording Finger Picking Wonder.
