GREG MARTIN INTERVIEW

(Originally aired on March 26, 2009)

Grammy Award-winning guitarist Greg Martin is best known as a founding member of The Kentucky Headhunters. Prominently featured on the band's nine albums, Martin consistently draws praise from fans and fellow players alike for his burning tone and emotional power. In addition to the Headhunters, Martin has also performed and recorded with The Mighty Jeremiahs — a band he fronted with soul-rock vocalist Jimmy Hall. In his latest group, the hard-riffing Rufus Huff, Martin delivers spine-tingling solos that evoke Paul Kossoff, Duane Allman, Mick Taylor and Bluesbreakers-era Eric Clapton.

In our exclusive interview, Martin reveals what bands and guitarists inspire his playing, and describes his gear and how he and his bandmates recorded their debut album, Rufus Huff.
