This week's show

The featured artist for our February 2nd and 5th show is roots-rocker PETE ANDERSON in an encore broadcast from last May.

Grammy Award-winning guitarist and producer Pete Anderson first gained national attention for his groundbreaking work with Dwight Yoakam. In the mid 1980s, the duo helped launch the new traditionalist movement in country music, while attracting rock and blues fans to the stripped-down sound of West Coast honky tonk. Anderson produced and played lead guitar on Yoakam's most successful albums, including the acclaimed debut Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. (1986), Hillbilly Deluxe (1987) and Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room (1988).

Anderson has also produced recordings by Roy Orbison, k.d. lang, Flaco Jimenez, Michelle Shocked, Buck Owens, Lucinda Williams, Jim Lauderdale, Sara Evans, Rosie Flores and the Meat Puppets. Anderson's guitar playing is an exciting amalgam of Bakersfield honky tonk, jump blues, rockabilly and Memphis soul. His solo albums — 1994's Working Class, 1997's Dogs In Heaven, and 2004's Daredevil — reveal an affinity for old-school R&B, rootsy rock and experimental sonic textures.

In our exclusive interview, Anderson discusses his latest album, Even Things Up, which he has recently re-released in a deluxe edition. This expanded version now features him on vocals and offers extra tracks, including a scorching guest appearance by singer Bekka Bramlett. During our feature, Anderson offers insights into his tone, technique, gear and musical heroes. We'll also hear cuts from Even Things Up, which features Anderson's spanky guitar, swirling organ, deep grooves and punchy horns.

In this week's Back-to-Back segment, we compare two instrumental versions of Roger Miller's "King Of The Road." First we'll chill with a 1966 big-band rendition featuring Wes Montgomery and organist Jimmy Smith, and then segue into a swinging interpretation off the new debut album by the amazing Travis-style picker, Ben Hall.

Each week in our Player Spotlight segment, we introduce you to a guitarist who may be flying under your radar. In this show, our spotlight shines on Mike McAdoo. We'll hear the title cut from his latest album, Guitar Texas.

We'll round out the program with a brand new track from Harry Manx & Kevin Breit, some jammin’ sounds from the Phil Keaggy Trio, moody twang from Richard Bennett, and a previously unreleased song from a long-lost studio album by the late Rory Gallagher.

Please join us on-air or online to enjoy an hour of handpicked music and intriguing conversation. If you’re passionate about guitar, you'll dig it!
